Bucks County couple accused of physically abusing newborn twins

The injuries reportedly included broken bones and fractures

A Bucks County couple have been charged with child abuse after police say doctors determined they had physically injured their 2-month-old twin daughters to the point of causing broken bones and fractures, Fox29 reports.

According to court documents, the children's mother, Melissa Shales, 25, allegedly told police she did "certain things" to the infants "out of anger and to get a reaction out of her husband." Michael Shales, 30, has also been charged.

The couple, who also have a 2-year-old son together, have been charged with aggravated assault, conspiracy and endangering the welfare of children.

One of their daughters remains hospitalized, while the other one and the 2-year-old boy are in the custody of Child Family Services in Bucks County, FOX29 reports.
