Burlington County investigators seek public's help in Willingboro Township homicide

Police found Colby Rodgers shot dead inside a car April 15

Police in Willingboro Township, Burlington County, are looking for leads Friday in the investigation into the shooting death of a 31-year-old man earlier this month.

Colby Rodgers, of Mt. Laurel, Burlington County, was found dead shortly after 3:15 a.m. April 15, shot multiple times inside a car parked on the first block of Woodhaven Lane, according to information from the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office.

Detectives from that office, along with the Willingboro Township police, are investigating the homicide, and Friday afternoon they reached out for the public's help.

“Law abiding members of the public do not want a murderer skulking through their neighborhoods,” Burlington County Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi said. “Somebody out there has information that can help us take this killer off the streets. Please work with us to make sure justice is served.”

Anyone with information about Rodgers' death can call the Willingboro Township Police Department tip line at 609-877-6958 or Burlington County Central Communications at 609-267-8300.

Rodgers death is one of three homicides in Burlington County in a month, the Burlington County Times reported. Police said Cynthia Fortune was killed by her husband, Quentin Fortune, of Somerdale, Camden County, as they were driving March 31 on Route 130 in Delran.

And, Nikita Cross, 35, of Galloway, Atlantic County, allegedly was shot and killed by Darren Winningham of Riverside, Burlington County, during a party at his home on April 23.

Cross had been set to graduate from Stockton University in New Jersey with a degree in social work in May. Stockton officials announced earlier this week the college will award Cross her degree posthumously.
