A new bar crawl is coming to town Saturday, Aug. 15, with a Cuban twist. The Philly Mojito March, celebrating the traditional white rum drink, is taking local cocktail fans on an eight-venue tasting journey through Philadelphia.
It all starts at Valanni in Center City, where marchers will begin their taste-testing of local mojitos. From there, the group will march on to Finn McCool's, Ladder 15, Giovani's, Tir Na Nog, Tavern on Broad, Fox & Hound and Con Murphy's. Sure, a list of mostly New American pubs doesn't exactly spell "authentic," but cultural exploration is hardly the purpose of a 10-hour bar crawl.
At each spot, participants will get a new drink, included in the ticket price. The participating locales will also have food and drink specials on hand. The Philly Mojito March is quick to state that participants may not be able to finish the marathon event. Luckily, once you check in at the starting locale, you can proceed at your own pace. Proceeds from the event will benefit local charities.
