Eagles LG Landon Dickerson

UPDATE [4:36 p.m.] – Landon Dickerson will have a "minor procedure" done on his right knee to address the meniscus injury in the next few days, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter

The left guard will be listed as "week-to-week" following the surgery, in the hopes that he will be ready to for opening night on Sept. 4 against Dallas.

EARLIER...

According to a report from ESPN, Philadelphia Eagles LG Landon Dickerson has suffered a meniscus injury, the severity of which is not yet known.

Dickerson was injured during an open practice at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday night. He went down after getting his feet tangled with LT Jordan Mailata, and remained down for a bit while teammates all around the field took knees. Dickerson eventually got up and was helped to the sideline. He had trouble putting weight on his right leg

He was then carted inside.

In 2024, Dickerson was voted to the Pro Bowl for the third straight season. He is a "do your job" type who has only missed two career starts due to injury after falling to the second round of the 2021 draft because of durability concerns. At 6'6, 332, he is one of the biggest guards in the NFL. He and Mailata form a massive bulldozing duo on the left side of the Eagles' O-line, which helped pave the way for Saquon Barkley's record-breaking season.

Dickerson suffered a slew of significant injuries during his collegiate career, listed here:

• November 2016: Torn ACL, right knee.

• October 2017: Right ankle surgery ended his season.

• 2018: Nagging/recurring left ankle injury caused him to miss most of the season.

• December 2020: Torn ACL, left knee.

The meniscus injury is likely to keep Dickerson out for an extended period of time, but it may not be season-ending.

The guess here is that Tyler Steen will move to LG, and free agent acquisition Matt Pryor will fill in at RG. Fourth-year pro Darian Kinnard is also an option at RG.

The Eagles also have Kenyon Green, whose natural position is LG. He could in theory fill in directly for Dickerson, but he has had an unimpressive training camp and is also currently out with a shoulder injury.

The Eagles also might feel as though they need to add a player from the outside, whether via trade or a player off the street. We'll examine those possibilities soon.

This post will be updated as we learn more.
