An employee of the Parking Authority of the City of Camden (PACC) has been charged with stealing funds from the parking garage where he worked.

The Camden County Prosecutor's office announced Wednesday that 62-year-old Joseph Belfiore of Bellmawr allegedly stole $765 from a garage on the Camden Waterfront on May 5, 2012.

Prosecutors say Belfiore is believed to have taken money from drivers using the garage but did not submit the money through PACC.

Police began investigating Belfiore after PACC reported his suspicious behavior, after concluding he stole the money through financial records and other evidence.

Belfiore has worked with PACC for 17 years. It is not clear if he was fired or suspended after the charges against him were filed.

He was served with a summons Wednesday and will appear in court August 20. Anyone with more information on other possibly stolen funds from PACC is asked to call the Camden County's Special Prosecution Unit at 856-225-8469.
