December 23, 2025
For many years, the members of IBEW Local 98 have given back to the communities they serve during the holiday season and 2025 was no exception. During Thanksgiving, Local 98 members once again came together to provide meals to hundreds of families in need across the City of Philadelphia and surrounding communities. Over the past few weeks, dozens of dedicated volunteers have helped deliver complete holiday meals with all the fixings, along with delicious desserts! In the spirit of giving, Local 98 members have also stopped by the hall to donate toys and clothing, helping support struggling families throughout Philadelphia this Christmas season.
Local 98’s Veterans Committee proudly participated in the Marine Corps “Toys for Tots” program. Bryan Gabriel, Chairman of the Local 98 Veterans Committee stated, “this is who we are and what we do. My family, along with our members, live in communities that care for one another and look out for each other. When one of us is hurting, all of us are hurting, and that’s what makes this Union so great. It’s always been about our members and doing what’s right.”
On Saturday, December 13th, apprentices and volunteers from the Veterans Committee along with the members of the Local 98 Motorcycle Club, participated in this year’s “Wreaths Across America” event honoring our fallen veterans by laying wreaths and maintaining the area surrounding their headstones. Motorcycle Club President Shawn McCarthy stated, “we look forward to this every year. It may seem like a small gesture, but we owe these heroes the utmost respect in life, and after their passing. I am proud to be a Local 98 member and proud of what we stand for—Brotherhood.”
Local 98 remains on a steady path forward, looking ahead to a bright and prosperous 2026!
