International House to screen John Woo, Lo Lieh double feature

'The Best of Asian Action!' honors two legendary directors

Exhumed Films, a community-based group of film lovers, regularly gathers at International House Philadelphia to screen obscure or underrated films. Though the group especially loves horror B-movies, they often feature films from other genres. With their upcoming double-feature Friday, September 4, they'll dive into "The Best of Asian Action!"

The special showing includes "The Killer" and "Fist of the White Lotus." "The Killer," directed by legendary filmmaker John Woo, was a huge international hit when it debuted in 1989. Chow Yun-Fat stars as Ah Jong, an assassin looking to get out of the game when his final job goes horribly awry. The film won John Woo a Hong Kong Film Award for directing and Kung-Wing Fan an award for Best Film Editing.

Lo Lieh directed and starred in "Fist of the White Lotus," the 1980 sequel to "Executioners of Shaolin." In the film, Lieh's character attempts to avenge the death of his brother Pai Mei (who Lieh played in the first film). He faces off against fellow Kung Fu star Gordon Liu as Hung Wen Ting in a fierce battle.
