A man and a pregnant woman were wounded in a West Oak Lane shooting that claimed the life of the woman's unborn child, 6ABC reports.
The shooting took place after 10 p.m. Monday in the 7300 block of Thouron Ave.
Police said the man was shot in both legs, and the 32-year-old woman, who was 16 weeks pregnant, was shot in the back. Both were taken to Einstein Medical Center.
The man was listed in stable condition. The woman was admitted in critical condition and was immediately taken to surgery. Her unborn child did not survive, police told 6ABC.
"Preliminary information is that the 46-year-old male who was shot in the legs is the boyfriend and the father of the unborn baby that died," Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told CBSPhilly.
Witnesses said two men fled the scene after shots were fired.
