Samuel High tosses a Skee-Ball at the Lansdale, Pennsylvania, headquarters of the arcade company on Feb. 5, 1984. Skee-Ball is a staple game of boardwalks, midways and arcades.

The Bucks County-based manufacturer of Skee-Ball has sold the iconic arcade game to its Wisconsin-based rival, The New York Times reports.

Skee-Ball Inc. was invented and patented in 1909 by J.D. Estes of Philadelphia and was later purchased by Joe Sladek in 1985. It has been based in Chalfont, Bucks County since its creation.

The buyer is Bay Tek Games, which manufactures similar alley-bowler-style games, The Times reports.

Bay Tek plans to rebrand the game and bring it “to the next level,” the report said, but what exactly that entails is a mystery at this time.

The deal was signed Tuesday and the price wasn’t disclosed, The Times reports.
