Wanted Pa. woman reportedly flees from police, falls in icy pond and refuses to get out

A wanted Lancaster woman who fell into an icy pond at a country club while reportedly fleeing from police refused to get out before she was arrested, officials said Tuesday.

Police spotted Meredith Calder, 41, who was wanted for multiple warrants in Lancaster and York counties, in a neighborhood development. She then allegedly took off on foot into Conestoga Country Club as police approached her.

Calder then attempted to cross a frozen pond, where she fell through the ice. Manor Township Police said that Calder wouldn't climb out while police called to her.

East Township police Officer Chris Keen then chased Calder in the frozen pond and took her into custody Tuesday.

Calder was most recently charged with access device fraud on Dec. 6.

No additional charges have been filed, according to police.
