New ’30 for 30’ short is about former Eagles owner and gambling addict Leonard Tose

If you are around my age, Jeffrey Lurie is the only Eagles owner that you have really ever known. Through the magic of ESPN and 30 for 30, I now feel like I also know a decent bit about Leonard Tose, who owned the team from 1969 to 1985.

Philanthropist, gambling addict, womanizer, and diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan, Tose was quite the character. Here is the 15-minute doc:

Mike Tollin, a Philly native and guy who is at least partially responsible for making me weep every time at the end of "Hardball," did a good job putting this together. And there is nothing more Philadelphia than the owner of the Eagles being forced to sell the team in part because of his outrageous gambling debts.

“Atlantic City wouldn’t be shutting down any casinos if he was alive.”
