September 27, 2016
Zwanze, an annual one-off brew made by Brasserie Cantillon of Brussels, is distributed to only a handful of bars around the world. Center City's Monk's Cafe is the only bar in Pennsylvania chosen to participate in Zwanze Day 2016. The bar will have one keg of the rare beer.
On Oct. 1, Zwanze 2016 kegs around the world will be tapped at the same moment. In Philadelphia, the time will be 3 p.m.
Besides only being available at limited locations in various countries, Zwanze is regarded as one of the rarest beers in the world since each vintage is different.
In 2008, the first brew was made with rhubarb. This year, the lambic is infused with raspberries, blueberries and vanilla.
While the main attraction isn't until 3, the day will begin at noon. Monk's Cafe will pour 24 additional rare drafts from around the world. Just remember to bring cash.
