Authorities in Sinking Spring are investigating after a family of five, including three children, were found dead in their home Saturday in an apparent murder-suicide.

Berks County District Attorney John T. Adams said investigators found the victims had been fatally shot inside their home in the Brookfield Manor subdivision, according to The Reading Eagle.

Authorities identified the victims as Mark Short, his wife, Megan, and their three children Liana, Mark and Willow.

Investigators entered the home at approximately 8:15 p.m. Saturday night after obtaining a warrant issued by District Judge Victor M. Frederick IV. The bodies were discovered at approximately 3 p.m. under circumstances that have not been disclosed.

The Short family was once featured in The New York Times concerning Willow's struggles after receiving a heart transplant in 2014. Sinking Spring is located about 70 miles northwest of Philadelphia.

Officials said the investigation will be led by the district attorney's office with assistance from the Sinking Spring and Spring Township police departments.
