People can celebrate all things mushroom with more than 100,000 fans of the fungus at the Mushroom Festival in Kennett Square, the mushroom-growing capital of the nation.
While there are fairs and festivals in nearly every city and town in America, some of the most unique are those that feature a particular food. Lucky for Philadelphians, we don't have to travel too far to join a quirky food and drink fest.
The suburbs offer a nice break from the city, plus a chance to cheer beers in a historic train station, attend a bee carnival, celebrate a fungus and eat way too much pasta.
These late-August and early-September festivals might seem tailored to specific tastes but they're for everyone.
Craft beer fans can spend the day sampling brews at the historic Quakertown Train Station. A few wines will also be available for those who like to switch it up.
The day begins at 1 p.m. for general admission ticket holders. VIP guests can enter an hour early and will be able to try almost 15 beers not listed in the general sampling.

Peddler's Village in Bucks County will celebrate Italian food, wine and heritage. There will be a wine stroll through the village for attendees to sample various Italian varieties, a brunch filled with Italian desserts and two dinners serving up lots of pasta.

The Philadelphia Beekeepers Guild is partnering with Glen Foerd on the Delaware, Wyck Historic House and Bartram’s Garden for a weekend all about honey.
There will be a Honey Happy Hour, a day of drinking home-brewed honey-based meads, beekeeping demonstrations, a Bee Carnival and parade for kids, a honey cooking contest and other activities scheduled.

As the mushroom capital of the nation, Kennett Square knows how to celebrate its best asset. Each year the town brings hundred of vendors for a street fair and provides entertainment for the young and the old.
There's a mushroom fun-run, a mushroom baby photo contest and the National Fried Mushroom Eating Championship in store for attendees, among a whole range of other activities.
