Vehicles on I-676 cross under the Family Court pedestrian bridge between 18th and 19th streets.

The Vine Street Expressway/Interstate 676 will be closed in both directions this week due to construction.

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that the roadway will be shut down between the Interstate 76 and Broad Street interchanges from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Monday, June 27 through Thursday, June 30.

Road crews will continue demolition work on the 19th Street bridge and replace barriers along I-676.

The work is part of the four-year, $64.8 million project to replace seven structurally deficient bridges between 18th and 22nd Streets. The project started in April 2015 and is slated to finish in fall 2019.

On PennDOT's website, a list of detours has been provided when I-676 is closed.

The work is dependent on the weather.
