Two men were shot to death at close range in the Hunting Park section of North Philadelphia early Wednesday morning, police say.

Two men were found dead in the Hunting Park section of North Philadelphia after being shot multiple times at close range on Wednesday morning, police said.

The men, ages 42 and 35, each were shot in the head, torso and chest, investigators said. Police found them bleeding less than one block from one another –  near the intersection of Pike and Reese streets – at 1 a.m.

"It appears that they both were executed," Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told NBC Philadelphia. Their names have not been released by police.

One of the men was struck eight times; the other was shot four times, police said. As of early Wednesday morning, police had not determined whether they were shot by the same person or multiple shooters.

Authorities have not identified any potential suspects or made any arrests.
