Pa. State Police investigating cheating allegations at cadet academy

A state police investigation into a possible cheating scandal involving current and former members of its cadet class is underway, WGAL News 8 reports.

According to WGAL News 8, a state police spokesperson would only say that state police don't "comment on, or confirm, any active internal investigation” and add that “cheating or any similar behavior is absolutely unacceptable and would merit serious discipline for anyone involved. We have no further comment at this time."

The cheating allegations were first reported by ABC27 News. It's unknown at this time how many individuals may have been involved.

According to Philly.com’s Harrisburg bureau“two sources familiar with the inquiry” have confirmed an investigation into the class set to graduate next month, which has 88 cadets.

Philly.com also reports that according to its sources, the internal investigation centers on “whether members of the cadet class scheduled to graduate this spring were given information about questions on an academic exam by members of a class that had recently graduated."

More than 4,700 active state troopers have passed through the academy and receive a biweekly salary of $1,200, Philly.com said.
