Pizza Hut introducing hot dog crusted pies

New offering will debut June 18

The new Hot Dog Bites Pizza debuts on June 18

Just when you may have thought Pizza Hut ran out of Hail Mary pizza promotions, they're totally redeeming themselves.

On June 18, the pizza chain will debut a pie with 28 mini hot dogs baked into the crust.

The Hot Dog Bites Pizza will come with a side of French's mustard for dipping, pig-in-blanket style, since it appears neither possible nor advisable to treat the dogs as a structurally sound crust.

Late last year, Pizza Hut, which got its start in Wichita, Kansas, rolled out six new base sauces, 10 new crust flavors (Salted Pretzel, Honey Sriracha and Ginger Boom Boom among them), a selection of specialty toppings and 11 new specialty pizzas, including "Skinny" pies. The hot dog concept already debuted in Korea in modified form last year.

The new offerings are all part of the company's attempt to reverse a slump in sales as competitors like Papa John's, Domino's and Little Caesars have cut into Pizza Hut's leading share of the market.
