Police report six overdoses in one day in Camden

All are believed to be heroin-related

Officials are concerned about the safety of drug users coming to Camden to purchase narcotics after six overdoses were reported in the city Wednesday, Camden County Police announced.

Authorities believe all of the overdoses are related to heroin use, and they are investigating the origin of the drug.

After the first overdose was reported at 7:45 a.m., there were four more within the next two and a half hours. The sixth overdose was reported around 2:40 p.m.

One 39-year-old male victim, whose last known address was in Lawnside, died, according to police.

The other victims included a 23-year-old Bordentown woman, a 45-year-old Lawnside woman, a 47-year-old Camden man, a 43-year-old National Park woman and a 29-year-old man whose address was not available, according to police.

All of the victims were taken to Cooper University Hospital to be treated.
