Cuddlers offer touch therapy

Snuggling services are catching on around Philly and rest of country.

With frigid temperatures hitting the area this past week, many Philadelphians will be looking for sources of warmth and comfort. For some, that means a mug of hot chocolate or cozying up next to the fireplace. For others, a cuddle session with a professional snuggler might do the trick.

Cuddling services, also advertised as touch therapy, have entered the mainstream over the past year. Booking cuddling sessions has become more and more popular, and now you can even find someone to bundle up with while on the go.

According to an article in The Wall Street Journal, there are some serious benefits to hiring a cuddler:

Research shows there are tangible physical and emotional perks to touch. It can increase levels of oxytocin, a bonding hormone produced by the hypothalamus that promotes warm feelings. Touch may lower heart rates and reduce stress, according to academic research.

If you're looking to find someone to spoon with in the area, Snuggle Buddies currently has female snugglers available in Philadelphia, Phoenixville, and Cherry Hill. However if you're looking for a male snuggler, their closest option is in New York City. Rates range from $80 for an hour to $400 for an overnight session.
