A woman was found slain with multiple stab wounds in a park behind a North Philadelphia high school in the early hours of Saturday morning, according to reports.
Police said the woman was found outside of Dobbins High School in the area of 21st Street and Lehigh Avenue around 3:15 a.m., the Associated Press reported. Reports vary on whether the woman was 33 or 34 years old.
Capt. Drew Techner said the victim was stabbed repeatedly throughout her body and that there were indications she may have been sexually assaulted, according to AP.
Police said a knife handle without a blade was taken into evidence, 6ABC reported.
The man who found the woman's body and called authorities is talking to police, according to the station.
"This male was in the area and he basically stumbled on this woman in a grassy area near the park benches," Philadelphia Police Capt. Drew Techner told 6ABC. "The police came here, this passerby is up at homicide being interviewed by the homicide detectives."
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, despite first responders' attempts to revive her, according to 6ABC. Her name hasn't been released.
Police say they don't know how long she had been dead, and no arrests were immediately announced, AP reported.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
