Another South Jersey juvenile arrested in 'clown threat' against school

Police in South Jersey have arrested a teenager in connection with the latest "clown threat" against a local school.

The suspect, a 13-year-old boy from Mays Landing in the township, was charged with 3rd degree terroristic threats and 3rd degree causing false public alarm, according to township police. He was not publicly identified because of his age.

Police said they received on Monday a report of threats made on Instagram against the William Davies Middle School. The threats appeared to be a similar to the recent “clown threats” made on social media sites.

An extensive investigation led to the juvenile boy, who was released to his parents pending juvenile court, police said.

The boy is the fourth juvenile in the past week identified by authorities as participants in "clown threats," including a 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy in a Washington Township case, and a 13-year-old Philadelphia girl.
