Four shot in gunfire after Michigan high school basketball game

A dispute between several individuals attending a Michigan high school basketball game Tuesday night ended in gunfire injuring four individuals, NBC News reports

According to NBC News, the dispute between the groups started a week prior and erupted in gunfire on the evening of the game outside Muskegon Heights High School.

Police had been made aware of the potential of “unwanted activity” at the game and were present when the shots broke out, with one of the shooting victims, an apparent shooter, being shot by a police sheriff’s deputy.

"We did everything we could to prevent this from happening," Police Chief Joseph E. Thomas, Jr. told NBC News."We had support from three agencies. We tried to talk to the individuals and they decided to start some unwanted activity."

None of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries and suspects have not been identified. 

The  wounded were transferred to a local hospital, and an investigation is ongoing.
