Pa. A.G. to argue against judge's contempt hearing Monday

Lawyers for Kathleen Kane will argue why she shouldn't have to explain firing prosecutor

Lawyers for Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane are scheduled to appear in court Monday to argue why she shouldn’t have to explain firing a prosecutor in a contempt of court hearing.

Judge William Carpenter, who is overseeing a grand jury investigation into allegations that Kane’s office leaked secret information, had ordered Kane to explain why she fired prosecutor James Barker after he testified in the investigation, according to 6ABC.

A three-judge panel in Montgomery County will hear whether Kane can be charged with "indirect contempt of court" as well as other motions, including allegations that Carpenter is biased against Kane and should recuse himself from all further proceedings involving the attorney general, CBS3 reports.
