Roebling Wire Works in Trenton, N.J. A shooting occurred here during a 24-hour art festival, injuring 22 and leading to one fatality.

Early Sunday morning during the 24-hour Art All Night festival in Trenton, New Jersey, two men opened fire and began shooting, injuring 22 people and causing one fatality.

About 1,000 people were in attendance at the festival, just before 3:00 a.m., when the shooting occurred in Roebling Wire Works. Authorities announced that one of the suspected gunman, a 33-year-old man, died in the commotion and that the other is in custody. Seventeen people are injured by gunshot wounds. The area has been declared a massive crime scene by police.

Patrons began running when the gunmen began shooting, with the youngest reported victim a 13-year-old boy, who is reportedly in "extremely critical" condition. Three other victims are also in critical condition.

The festival, which was scheduled to continue through Sunday, has been canceled. The annual event brought about 1,500 artists to the area from throughout the East Coast. Sunday afternoon there was a short film festival scheduled. This was the festival's 12th year.

No news has been shared yet about the identity of the suspected shooters. Several weapons were recovered, and the case is being investigated as an officer-involved shooting.

"My sympathy goes out to the victims and their families," said Trenton Mayor Eric Jackson during a press conference.

"All shootings are a crisis. This is not just a random act of violence; this is a public health issue."

"We’re still processing much of this and we don’t have many answers at this time, but please know that our staff, our volunteers, our artists, and musicians all seem to be healthy and accounted for," organizers said in a statement on Facebook. "Our sincere, heartfelt sympathies are with those who were injured."
