Who will be the Eagles' cap casualties after the 2016 season?

The Eagles are going to have shed some of their pricier contracts this offseason. Here's a look at some players and our projected view of their futures in Philadelphia.

Cowboys-Vikings Thursday Night Football open thread

On Thanksgiving Day a week ago, the Dallas Cowboys helped the Philadelphia Eagles by beating the Washington Redskins, a team that was ahead of the Birds in the wildcard race. And then... the Eagles didn't capitalize on Monday night against the Green Bay Packers. One week later, a Cowboys win over the Minnesota Vikings would help the Eagles yet again, as the Eagles own the Vikings' first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Calculating the Eagles' chances of getting an upgraded draft pick in the Eric Rowe trade

Just before the start of the 2016 NFL season, the Philadelphia Eagles traded CB Eric Rowe to the New England Patriots for a fourth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. That fourth-round pick will become a third-round pick if Rowe plays in at least 50 percent of the Patriots defensive snaps either in 2016 or 2017.

Doug Pederson (eventually) recognizes poor decision to use challenge vs. Packers

Credit Pederson for eventually recognizing the error, however, it is alarming that he would deem that a reasonable time to use his final challenge in the heat of the game.

Fletcher Cox has cost the Eagles 15 points this year with bad penalties

With a high priority placed on protecting quarterbacks (Cam Newton aside), being a pass rusher in the NFL isn't always easy. All game long, you fight through offensive linemen who are holding you, and if you're able to get a crack at the quarterback, you have to be precise with where you hit him while playing at a high speed, or you may just draw a devastating flag.

Lack of discipline (and not just drops) from Eagles receivers killing big plays

Last week against the Seattle Seahawks, the Philadelphia Eagles had a 57-yard touchdown wiped off the board because Nelson Agholor did not line up correctly at the snap. It was the second time in as many years that an illegal formation penalty by Agholor cost the Eagles a touchdown. On Monday night against the Green Bay Packers, another gaffe by an Eagles wide receiver wiped out a huge play.

Handing out 10 awards from the Eagles-Packers game

Well, that was ugly. Against a Green Bay Packers defense that has allowed 153 points (38.3 per game) over their last four games, the Philadelphia Eagles managed to score 13. After an extraordinarily promising 3-0 start, the Birds are now 5-6 and will probably have to run the table to qualify for a playoff berth. Which they won't. As always, win or lose, we hand out 10 awards.

After a humbling loss on the road to the Seattle Seahawks a week ago, the Eagles return home to Philadelphia to take on the reeling Green Bay Packers in what is an extremely crucial game as the NFL season enters the home stretch. Feel free to discuss the game here.
