Start Labor Day with a 5-mile run on the beach

Best part is you can cool off in the ocean afterward

Labor Day is the unofficial date for when we say goodbye to summer and hello to fall. For runners, the crisp fall weather can be something to look forward to for outdoor workouts. Running in the heat can be tough.

Of course, it's also hard to beat the long days of summer when you can go for a late run on the beach and cool off with a dip in the ocean.

Before the seasons change, fit in one more beach workout with the Labor Day 5-Mile Run at Ocean City, New Jersey.

The race begins at 9 a.m. from 23rd Street Beach. Registration online is $20 per person ($10 for those age 14 and under) and $25 day-of.

There's also a 1-mile walk, which will start immediately after runners take off.
