Police say an Allentown detective was shot in the arm while attempting to serve a male suspect a warrant, CBSPhilly reports.

Police are investigating the suspect, who has not been identified, in relation to a dead woman whose body was found stuffed in a recycling bin with multiple gunshot wounds on Sunday, CBSPhilly said.

The woman’s identity also hasn’t been released at this time.

According to CBSPhilly, the Allentown detective was joined by several other officers at the suspect’s home - near where the woman's body was found - to serve the warrant Tuesday night.

Allentown Police Chief Keith Morris told CBSPhilly the gunfire broke out while the officers were approaching the suspect’s door. He said the officers returned fire and the unnamed detective was hit in the left arm.

Both the suspect and the officer were hospitalized for their injuries, with the officer reported to be in fair condition. There is no immediate word on the suspect’s condition, nor have any charges been made available.
