Author to discuss highest and lowest scoring restaurants for workers

Restaurant workers can attend the Free Library of Philadelphia event at no charge

The Free Library of Philadelphia

Saru Jayaraman, author of "Forked: A New Standard of American Dining," will be at the Free Library of Philadelphia's Parkway Central branch on June 8. 

There, she will offer her insight on the best and worst restaurants for workers' pay and benefits. Her restaurant grading criteria is based on wages, paid sick days, opportunities for promotions and other factors.

Food will be provided by some of the Philly restaurants that Jayaraman gave high scoresThe author event is free to attend for restaurant workers; $5 for those outside of the industry.

Jayaraman also is the co-founder of Restaurant Opportunities Centers United and is the director of the Food Labor Research Center at the University of California Berkeley.
