Girlfriend of D.A. Seth Williams charged in tire slashings

A woman who was recently identified as the girlfriend of Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams has been charged in connection with a vandalism incident outside his home, according to media reports.

Stacey Cummings, 47, surrendered to police on Sunday and is now facing charges of criminal mischief and possession of an instrument of crime, 6ABC reports.

On Nov. 11, 2015, Cummings allegedly slashed two tires on both a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria and a 2010 Ford Escape. Those vehicles were assigned to the District Attorney's Office and were parked outside Williams' home.

According to philly.com, investigators in Williams' office reportedly chose not to pursue charges in the matter because they determined the case had been bungled. Two months after the incident, the office believed the case could not be solved.

The case is being handled by the Delaware County District Attorney's Office.

The current relationship between Cummings and Williams is unknown. But Williams listed Cummings as his girlfriend in 2012 and 2014 when he reportedly received $160,050 in previously undisclosed gifts over a five-year period.

Four days after the Aug. 15, 2016 report, Williams apologized to his staff for "adverse publicity" and making their work more difficult.

Williams also sent an email to supporters vowing to "take full responsibility on failing to disclose what was required."

But the district attorney has yet to speak publicly about the matter.

Williams is up for re-election in 2017.

Cummings was released from custody on her own recognizance.
