A Delaware man attempts to find his long-lost brother through a Facebook post.

A man who was adopted at birth is searching for his long-lost brother through Facebook.

Mark Smith, 48, who grew up in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, and now lives in Middletown, Delaware, posted about his desire to find his sibling, who was also adopted as a baby.

The post explains that his younger brother would have been born sometime in March 1969 or 1970, which would make the man between the ages of 45 and 46, and says since they have the same biological parents, they may look alike.

Smith says that he has met the rest of his biological family, including his older sister, and that finding his brother is "the last step in this journey."

Smith told 6ABC that he is now close to most of his biological family members. But his biological father, who has since passed away, wanted nothing to do with him.

The younger brother was born in West Philadelphia and may live somewhere in the city or Delaware County, according to the post. Smith told 6ABC that he had to explain his desire to find his sibling to his children:

"I said to them 'could you imagine if Mommy and I put our first child up for adoption? And you would be missing a part of our family.' I think for my own children it was an aha moment."

According to Smith's Facebook page, he currently works as a practice administrator at Crozer Keystone Health Network. He graduated from Drexel University in 1996.

Smith's post encourages people to share it in order to help him out. Apparently, it's working: It already has been shared more than 17,000 times.
