Fiery crash on Schuylkill Expressway kills 3, injures 1

Three people were killed and another was injured early Wednesday morning after a fiery crash on the Schuylkill Expressway, NBC10 reports.

The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes right before the Montgomery Drive exit.

The car was found overturned on its side and engulfed in flames. Initial reports said two people were killed in the crash, and a third was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital and sent into surgery in an unknown condition, authorities said.

6abc reports that a fourth passenger in the car also died in the crash.

It was not immediately clear if weather was a factor in the crash.

Only the far left lane was opened as a result of the crash. Drivers can expect delays and are urged to seek an alternate route.

The fatal crash is under investigation.
