Beer for Presidents' Day: Ales of the Revolution by Yards Brewing

If you're anxiously awaiting the start of Philly Beer Week at the end of this month, here's another excuse to celebrate: It's officially National Craft Beer Week!

Through Monday, May 11 (Sorry, you already missed a day) to Sunday, May 17, the Brewer's Association and their website CraftBeer.com will be celebrating small and independent breweries across the country.

In that spirit, there's plenty of businesses to celebrate in Philadelphia. The Courier Post already put together the South Jersey breweries you can visit. Here in the city, Philadelphia Brewing Company in Kensington and Yards in Poplar both offer regular tours of their facilities.

St. Benjamin Brewing Company features slightly less frequent tours, but always provides a food truck on site for visitors to help put something in your stomach after getting a buzz from the tasting room. At 2nd Street Brewing Company in Old City, you can enjoy burger, pizzas, and appetizers along with the wide selection of beers.

That's only a handful of the options in and around Philadelphia, and CraftBeer.com will help you find the closest brewery to you with their interactive map.

The options aren't just limited to the Philadelphia area. There are 139 total craft breweries in Pennsylvania, according to the Brewer's Association, which ranks seventh in the country.

But the state does rank first in one category. In 2014, Pennsylvania craft breweries produced more than four million gallons of beer, the most among all 50 states.

So take pride, Keystone staters, and celebrate (responsibly, of course).
