Traveling around Center City could prove challenging on Sunday morning and into the afternoon. A helicopter lift operation will create detours and limit access for several hours, officials said.

Temporary Intermittent street closures will be in effect from 4 a.m to 3 p.m. on Feb. 17 as the city accommodates a helicopter lift of heavy equipment overhead.

The closure zone will move throughout the area highlighted in the map below.

Those in the area should expect delays throughout the time period of the operation.

"Due to the height of these buildings a helicopter is needed to set these units," officials said. "For safety reasons and because of the nature of the work to be performed, the streets will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic."

For SEPTA riders, trains will operate as regularly scheduled, but passengers will not be able to enter or exit the 15th Street Station concourse from the start of service until after 3 p.m.

Alternate access points to 15th Street Station will be routed through Suburban Station and 13th Street Station for access to the Market Frankford Line.

Alternate access for other SEPTA service disruptions, including bus and trolley lines, can be found here.
