Rappers Christopher "Cool C" Roney and Warren "Steady B" McGlone (upper right in right panel) of rap group C.E.B. were charged in the murder of a policewoman during a botched bank holdup attempt in 1996.

Contrary to chatter on social media, convicted cop killer Cool C -- a Philly-based rapper -- will not be executed Thursday. He was granted a stay of execution on Dec. 5.

The rapper, whose formal name is Christopher Roney, was found guilty of murdering Philadelphia Police Officer Lauretha Vaird in 1996. Vaird was shot during the commission of a bank robbery conducted by Roney and two accomplices.

Two days later, he was sentenced to death and was set to be lethally executed for his crime Thursday, prior to being granted a stay last month by Philadelphia District Court judge L. Felipe Restrepo.

Vaird was a 43-year-old single mother of two boys and had served the city as an officer for more than a decade before she was killed. She was the first Philadelphia female office killed in the line of duty.

Christopher "Cool C" Roney rose to fame in the late 80s with singles "Juice Crew Dis", "The Glamorous Life", and "I Gotta Habit".
