Philly's zine scene will gather together at University City festival

Find new, self-published work

Mini magazines, or zines, will be on display at The Rotunda during the 14th Annual Philly Zine Fest on Aug. 28. The yearly event celebrates the often hand-made or small-batch-produced publications.

The saying goes, "Don't judge a book by its cover," but some of the most fun at Zine Fest is checking out the artistic cover designs on each mini mag -- and the creative names.

This year find names like Displaced Snail Publications, Lady Teeth and Dummie Comics Inc. in the mix. The Soapbox, a nonprofit community print shop, book and zine making center and library of 2,000 rare and handmade publications, will also showcase a selection of members' work. Find the full list of participants here.

Attendees will be able to buy and trade zines at the event.
