Police are searching for suspects in connection with a series of scooter thefts.

Philadelphia police are searching for suspects connected with a rash of recent scooter thefts.

Since the start of April, 17 scooters have been stolen from the South Philadelphia area, police said.

The thefts of scooters, which are usually secured in front of owners'  buildings, have occurred in the early morning hours, police said.

“During the thefts of these scooters, the lock and chain are cut to steal the scooter,” police officials said.

Police are looking for three white or Hispanic men who are using a white Ford Econoline van equipped with ladder racks on the roof. Police said the van is affixed with plate HDV-9933, which was stolen from a Honda.

“Previous investigations revealed Hispanic males from Camden used stolen vans in the theft of these scooter/motorcycles from Philadelphia, then transport the vehicles back to Camden,” police said.

The police were able to review surveillance video from the 1700 block of Locust St. for clues .

Police are asking the public to call (215) 685-9130 if they have information.
