A Temple University student says he was attacked near campus early Sunday morning in what he believes was a hate crime.

According to The Temple News, the male student reported being approached by an intoxicated man while walking with a group of friends on Bouvier Street near French Street.

The student claims the man, who was walking with two women, pushed him from behind, kicked him in the back and yelled "f-----."

The student told the student-run newspaper he believes the attacker may have singled him out among his straight friends because he is a bisexual man.

While he did not require medical attention, the student said he suffered bruising and scraping, which aggravated a pre-existing chronic pain condition.

University safety officials are currently investigating the incident. You can read more from The Temple News here.
