The former Atlantic Club casino in Atlantic City is slated to be turned into a family-focused entertainment complex and water park.
The Press of Atlantic City reported that the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority advanced the news plans for the beachside building, one of several former and current casinos that make up the Atlantic City skyline, on Monday with several zoning-related approvals.
The complex is expected to include an 81,000-square-foot water park and about 800 hotel rooms with a price tag for the project estimated at around $150 million to $165 million, The Press reports.
If plans continue to move forward as is, the project will be completed by Pennsylvania-based Endeavor Property Group in the winter of 2016.
The Atlantic Club casino closed in January 2014, along with three others in the resort town. The city has since been trying to resurrect itself with an aim of bringing non-gaming entertainment to the city.
The entertainment complex is part of that attempt.
