Eagles OTA practice notes, June 9, 2015: Mark Sanchez playing well, but needs to do more

The Eagles practiced in front of the media Tuesday, which was the last OTA practice open to the media of the offseason. Media will have access to a three day minicamp next week, and then there will be a long gap until August 2nd, when training camp begins. My notes...

Eagles safety stock watch: Walter Thurmond up, Earl Wolff way down

Earl Wolff continues to miss OTA practices with a knee injury, and Chip Kelly has done nothing in the way of defending the third-year safety. He answered a question about Wolff's status rather bluntly.

Jason Peters won't miss Evan Mathis if he's not on the team

Jason Peters has played at left tackle next to left guard Evan Mathis along the Eagles offensive line for the last four years. During that span, they have started 40 games together. With Evan Mathis holding out and his future with the team in question, Peters may begin the 2015 season with someone other than Mathis as his wing man on the left side of the line for the first time since 2010. When asked if Peters would miss Mathis, he didn't seem to mind at all of Mathis doesn't return.

Eagles rookie player comparisons: Nelson Agholor edition

A number of you have asked what players the Eagles rookies remind me of so far. We're only a few practices into OTAs at this point in the offseason, and the Eagles haven't run enough team drills to really get a great in-person sense of what they'll be as pros. However, I do have some initial thoughts on players comps. We'll start with Nelson Agholor.

Eagles OTA practice notes, June 8, 2015: Nelson Agholor attacks

The next set of OTAs are underway, and Philly media once again had a chance to look in on practice. Chip Kelly, as usual during media-attended OTA practices, used the field as far away as possible from us (I don't blame him, for the record), so it was tough to get a great view of the action. Still, there were some observations that could be made, and here's what I saw.

Tale of the tape: A statistical look at DeMarco Murray vs LeSean McCoy

The Eagles went from one great running back to another this offseason. Out is the shifty, dynamic LeSean McCoy, in is powerful sledgehammer DeMarco Murray. Here, we'll take a deeper look at McCoy and Murray from a statistical standpoint, and determine which back has the edge in 10 different categories: Durability, Age/wear/tear, cost, receiving capabilities, short yardage, explosive plays as a runner, explosive plays as a receiver, yards after contact, fumbles, and #culture.

What they're saying: All-22 highlights of Fletcher Cox's 2014 season

Fletcher Cox's 2014 season, statistically, isn't exactly eye-popping on paper -- 61 tackles, 4 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and 3 fumble recoveries. As a result, his 2014 efforts did not impress the dopes who vote for the Pro Bowl, and Cox was snubbed, although he did garner second team All-Pro honors. Eagles fans, however, are well aware of what Cox is -- an emerging elite defensive lineman.

Caplan: 'Pessimistic' that Evan Mathis will be an Eagle this fall

A week ago, we envisioned an Eagles offensive line without Evan Mathis, who has skipped voluntary Eagles organized team activities this offseason. Friday night, ESPN insider Adam Caplan said on 97.5 the Fanatic that he is pessimistic that Mathis will be with the team this season.

Eagles jersey buyer's guide

A couple days ago, a list came out of the 25 highest selling jerseys in the NFL. Two of them were Eagles. DeMarco Murray came in at number 11, while Tim Tebow came in at number 15. We'll go through what Eagles jerseys to buy, and which ones to stay away from, but first, here's the entire top 25 list, via ESPN's Darren Rovell.
