Eagles' first-round pick in 2017 NFL Draft narrowed down to three possible spots

If the 2016 NFL season ended after Week 16, the Minnesota Vikings' first-round draft pick that is owned by the Philadelphia Eagles stemming from the Sam Bradford trade would have been 14th overall.

That pick will now be anywhere from 13th overall to 15th overall. We'll explain.

Heading into Week 17, that pick could have risen as high as ninth overall with a Vikings loss, and as low as 18th overall with a Vikings win. On Sunday, the Vikings beat the Chicago Bears during the early afternoon games, so we have some more clarity on where the Eagles' first round pick will land.

As a reminder, the draft order is determined by record (duh), with the first tie-breaker being strength of schedule. The team with the weaker strength of schedule picks first. The full list, before this week's slate of games:

 Pick TeamSOS
 9 Panthers.515
10 Eagles (pick owned by Browns) .563
 11 Cardinals .464
 12 Bills .481
 13 Colts .492
14 Vikings (pick owned by Eagles) .498
 15 Saints .523
 16 Titans .473
 17Ravens  .496
 18 Buccaneers .498
 19Broncos  .552

After the Vikings beat the Bears, the Eagles' pick had no way of jumping the Panthers, Browns (via the Eagles), Cardinals, or Bills, as they would all either have a worse record, or in the case of the Bills, an insurmountable strength of schedule.

However, with the Colts also having won and a number of results across the league affecting strength of schedules, according to SB Nation, the Colts now have a slightly more difficult strength of schedule (.492) than the Vikings (.490), meaning that the Vikings have temporarily jumped the Colts, even though the Vikings won.

As for the other teams who could have possibly jumped the Eagles because of the Vikings' win, the Titans and Buccaneers both won, so the Eagles' pick will remain ahead of them. Meanwhile, while the Ravens lost and will now have the same record as the Vikings, their strength of schedule is higher at .500, so they'll remain behind the Eagles as well.

The only other team with a chance of jumping the Eagles with a loss is the Saints, who are currently behind in the late afternoon games.

The Broncos' result was irrelevant since they had no chance of jumping the Eagles' pick with their far more difficult strength of schedule.

In other words, the "too long; didn't read" version is that the Eagles will pick anywhere from 13th to 15th, depending on the outcome of the Saints game, and any fluctuations in strength of schedule between the Colts and Vikings.

Yes, I'm a nerd.
