The theme of reunions during this year's NFL free agency period continued on Wednesday for the Philadelphia Eagles when the team signed wide receiver Chris Givens, who had his best statistical season back in 2012 when he was a rookie with the St. Louis Rams -- and Sam Bradford was his quarterback -- to a one-year deal.
During that rookie season, Givens appeared in 15 games (12 starts) and caught 42 passes for 698 yards and three touchdowns, all career highs. He also set a rookie record when he caught passes of 50-plus yards in five consecutive games. In his three-plus seasons in St. Louis, Givens posted 88 receptions for 1,433 yards (16.3 yards/catch) and four touchdowns in 48 games.

But in October of last year, the Rams traded Givens to the Baltimore Ravens, where he went on to play in 12 games (six starts) and record 19 catches for 345 yards and a touchdown.
Givens was originally drafted by the Rams in 2012 (fourth round) after three seasons at Wake Forest, where he ranks in the top 5 in career receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns and set a school record with 1,330 yards his junior season on 83 catches.
As Jimmy Kempski pointed out earlier, Givens gives the Eagles a vertical threat that they were missing much of last season, not to mention that he also has played with Bradford before and been the most productive during those games.
The Eagles don't have much in the way of receivers who can stretch the field vertically. Givens ran a 4.41 40 at the 2012 Combine and he has a 16.6 yards per catch average for his career. He also has three years of experience playing alongside Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford.
