Key dates on the Sixers' 2015-16 schedule

The NBA schedule release doesn’t have the buildup of its NFL counterpart, but it does determine how myself and all other hoop junkies will be spending their time this winter so it’s still pretty important. In a major shocker, the Sixers won’t be on national television at all this season. We’ll get them all to ourselves (and anybody who has League Pass)!

You can find the entire schedule on the team website, but here are a few dates that stood out to me:

October 28th and 30th (at Celtics, vs. Jazz): This is your season and home opener, respectively. The two games are against teams the Sixers went a combined 0-6 against last year.

November 2nd and January 10th (vs. Cavs, vs. Cavs): Sixers fans get two chances to see LeBron this season. That is, if the Cavs don’t decide to rest him like they did in their only visit to Philly of 2014-15.

November 13th and 14th (at Thunder, at Spurs): The Sixers were spared a true Texas Triangle trip, as the Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston road contests were split up. Instead, they’ll have to deal with what might be the most painful back-to-back in the NBA this season assuming Oklahoma City is at full strength.

November 23rd and January 4th (at Wolves, vs. Wolves): In a matchup we thought might take place in the national championship game, Jahlil Okafor will get the opportunity to square off with Karl-Anthony Towns.

December 1st (vs. Lakers): Kobe’s last game in Philly assuming Swaggy P hasn’t driven him to insanity? Also, Okafor gets the chance to show the Lakers they made a mistake by passing on him for D’Angelo Russell.

December 23rd to January 2nd (Ice Capades Trip): The Sixers will make stops in Milwaukee, Phoenix, Utah, Sacramento, and finally Los Angeles for a back-to-back at Staples Center. It will be interesting to see what the Kings look like at that point of the season.

January 30th (vs. Warriors): The champs!

February 8th, February 10th (vs. Clippers, vs. Kings): Lob City absolutely dismantled the Sixers at “The Center” last year, and that was with Spencer Hawes on the team. After the Nik Stauskas trade this summer, Sixers-Kings games became a little more interesting.

March 18th (vs. Thunder): This could potentially be the last time Sixers fans get an up-close look at Kevin Durant playing on the same team as Russell Westbrook and Serge Ibaka.
