A PATCO train crosses the Benjamin Franklin Bridge from New Jersey headed to Pennsylvania.

PATCO riders were hit with a one-two punch of inconvenience on Monday afternoon as the transit agency canceled four outbound Philadelphia trains and evacuated a fifth train in Camden due to reports of smoke.

Rush hour commuters heading back to South Jersey from Philadelphia Monday afternoon were advised that some of PATCO's regularly scheduled trains would not be running due to snow and equipment issues.

Large parts of South Jersey were hit with heavy snow over the past week as two storms barrelled across the region. Saturday's storm dropped snow totals ranging from 4-10 inches, including 5.5 inches in Lindenwold where the PATCO line ends.

At about 5:30 p.m., PATCO riders were evacuated from a train filled with white smoke at the City Hall stop in Camden. According to some of their tweets, many walked to the Broadway stop to await a train.

PATCO temporarily suspended service and then shortly afterward announced that all eastbound and westbound has been fully restored, with residual delays.
