Peeps will open its Bethlehem factory to the public for the first time ever

We have a sugar high just thinking about going

I’ve lived in Pennsylvania for 96 percent of my life, and I’ve always loved Peeps, but until Thursday I had no idea that their parent company, Just Born Quality Confections, was based in Bethlehem. That’s super wild!

If you, like me, love Peeps and have always wanted a behind-the-scenes view of your favorite weird marshmallow things, here’s some good news: you could be the first customer to ever set foot inside the factory.

Peeps is raising money through a partnership with the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, Just Born announced this week, by launching a nationwide sweepstakes.

The “Peeps Helping Peeps Sweepstakes” (Peepstakes?) grand prize is a trip for four to the Peeps Factory in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. You can enter today by making a donation of at least $5 to the United Way of Greater Lehigh Valley, which will go towards supporting community schools.

You can click here to donate right now.

"Although we've had many requests and lots of fans show up at our doors over the years, the PEEPS factory has never been open to the public," Matt Pye, SVP of Sales and Marketing at Just Born, said in a release. "The winner of our PEEPS Helping Peeps Sweepstakes will embark upon a once-in-a-lifetime tour of our factory and witness first-hand how our iconic PEEPS marshmallow is made."

The peepstakes will run through April 8, and the winner will be announced April 12.

I’d like to imagine it’s a colorful, sugar-crusted wonderland inside. I’m probably wrong. Soon, someone will be able to tell me.
