For the first time in the 56-year history of Beaver Stadium, Penn State University will hold a concert at the home of the Nittany Lions.

After announcing the planned event last month, the university revealed in a tweet on Saturday that the inaugural Happy Valley Jam next summer will be headlined by country rock star Blake Shelton.

“We are elated to welcome Blake Shelton and a tremendous lineup to the first-ever concert in Beaver Stadium,” Penn State Director of Athletics Sandy Barbour said in a statement. “We have been resolute in our efforts to make our first stadium event unique. The Happy Valley Jam will be an historic day for Central Pennsylvania and we can’t wait.”

Shelton, an award-winning artist and judge on reality competitions "The Voice" and "Nashville Star," will be joined by fellow country acts Chris Young and Big & Rich.

Ticket pre-sales for Nittany Lion Club members, students, alumni and staff will begin Nov. 8, starting at 10 a.m. and run through Nov. 15. The general public will be able to purchase tickets starting at 10 a.m. Nov. 16 at www.HappyValleyJam.com. In-person sales will begin at 10 a.m. on Nov. 17 at the Bryce Jordan Center.

The event at Beaver Stadium, whose official seating capacity is 106,572, is sponsored by Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics and Basis Entertainment.
