Police: Cyclist struck in West Philly hit-and-run

A cyclist was hit by a driver in the early morning hours Tuesday in West Philadelphia, according to police.

The incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. near the corner of 52nd and Spruce streets, authorities said.

The cyclist, who was struck by an unknown vehicle, sustained injuries to his head and possibly fractured some ribs, police said. There were no witnesses to the crash.

The cyclist, a 46-year-old man, was taken to Penn-Presbyterian Hospital and was last listed in stable condition.

There is currently no description for the vehicle. Police are still investigating.
