A man was arrested on Friday in connection with a stabbing along the Schuylkill River Trail in Center City.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on the stairs to the trail near the Walnut Street Bridge.

NBC10 reports that Isiah Cheeseboro, 29, was taken into custody after being positively identified by the victim.

Authorities say Cheeseboro slashed a 24-year-old woman across the forehead while she was exiting the trail. He allegedly approached the victim from behind, said something to her before slashing her once with a sharp object.

The victim managed to escape and seek safety in a nearby building on Walnut Street. She was eventually transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where she was treated for a three-inch gash to head. She has since been released.

Cheeseboro was charged with aggravated assault and related offenses.
