The Wildwood Crest Police Department announced Thursday that there will be no charges against the Aztec Motel after a man nearly drowned in its swimming pool last Saturday night.

According to Shore News Today, police said their investigation produced no criminal findings and no evidence of foul play in the near-death of 34-year-old Greg Subiszak.

Initial reports suggested that Subiszak may have been electrically shocked while swimming in the pool on East Lavender Road. Two motel guests found him unresponsive at the bottom of the pool, and when one of them jumped in to rescue him, he described experiencing convulsive shocks upon touching the victim.

At the time of the incident, a motel employee shut off the power to the pool area and removed Subiszak from the water. Both Subiszak and the man who attempted to save him were rushed to Cape May Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Officials would not comment on whether or not Subiszak's injuries were caused by an electrical shock. Police said the pool will remain closed until it has passed all required inspections.

Subiszak, a resident of Fair Lawn, was later transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, where he is listed in critical but stable condition.
