Charges were filed Tuesday against an attempted robber who was shot after allegedly stealing $2,000 from a North Philadelphia store owner last weekend.
The store owner, who was not identified, will not be charged in the shooting, which also ensared an innocent bystander, police said.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. Sunday at a laundromat in the 2900 block of North Fifth Street.
The robbery suspect, identified as 41-year-old Marcus Quinones, was shot twice in the chest by the 33-year-old store owner. He was transported to Temple Hospital in critical condition.
Police said the female bystander was shot in the left hand as she waited for a bus. She was transported to Temple Hospital and last was reported in stable condition.
Investigators said the suspect entered the business and pulled a knife on the owner. After reportedly obtaining $2,000, he fled on foot, but the owner retrieved a gun and gave chase. The suspect threw the money on the ground and raised his arms, but the owner shot him twice and struck the bystander once, police said.

On Monday, police declined to press charges against the owner. Investigators said the owner thought the suspect was armed and feared for his life, NBC10 reports.
According to FOX29, the money was not retrieved because neighbors scooped up the cash and fled.
Quinones is charged with robbery, aggravated assault, theft, simple assault and related offenses.
